Common Roads, program arm of the LGBT Community Center Coalition of Central Pennsylvania, provides education, advocacy, and programming to empower lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth throughout the Central Pennsylvania region.

Who we are:

·         Advocates, youth, parents, allies, professionals, educators, community members.

What we do:

·         Educate to prevent discrimination, harassment, and homophobia that LGBTQ youth experience.

·         Educate youth to be self-empowered, autonomous leaders and healthy decision-makers.

·         Extend programming and outreach to traditionally underserved communities and populations.

·         Act as a community resource to provide technical assistance, training, and professional development on issues affecting LGBTQ youth and their families.

·         Assist community organizations, human service agencies, and schools in creating inclusive, safe, and welcoming policies and procedures toward LGBTQ individuals.

·         Create strategic partnerships to enhance our impact in the community.

Why we do this work:

·         We care about the well being of all LGBTQ youth in central Pennsylvania.

·         Central Pennsylvania remains a challenging place for LGBTQ youth.

·         We seek a transformation of behaviors, attitudes and beliefs in our society.

The world we envision:

·         Young people are free to explore and express who they are.

·         Gender identity, sexual orientation and expression are appreciated and included as valid components of human diversity.

·         Families nurture and support their children regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.

·         LGBTQ youth grow up to be contributing and healthy adults.
