Outdoors Club

Central Pennsylvania is rich with natural resources, geographic diversity, and has a plethora of outdoor activities to partake in. The LGBT Community Center has organized a group of people that will explore all that Central PA has to offer. Activities range from hiking to white water rafting, and from ghostly bus tours to skiing. All levels of skill and interest are welcome to join. Some programs may have small costs associated with them. For information about accessibility, cost, and dates/locations of programs please call Sean Maloney, Interim Program Director, at (717) 920-9534 or email him at smaloney@centralpalgbtcenter.org.

Speakers Bureau

The LGBT Community Center is proud to introduce its “A Day in the Life …” series. This series starting in the fall will feature LGBT and Ally professionals speaking on a variety of topics that are important to the lives of LGBT individuals and families. Topics will include things like estate planning, adoption, health care, and much more. All members of the community are welcome to come to this and participate in the important dialogue. The goals of these workshops will be to better inform the participants of their rights, help them know how to best plan for the future, and answer questions that have been on many of our minds. There may be a cost associated with some of these seminars. For more information please contact Sean Maloney, Interim Program Director, at smaloney@centralpglgbtcenter.org or at (717) 920-9534.

Book Clubs

The LGBT Community Center Coalition of Central Pennsylvania is excited to be coordinating a series of book clubs beginning in September of 2009. The clubs will meet monthly and discuss a different book each meeting. We are pleased to have the help of Lewis Maurer, Reference Department Manager with the Dauphin County Library System, and Eric St. Clair with Central Dauphin East High School assisting us with this project. The Center envisions these clubs as an important step toward creating common ground through providing educational programming to LGBT people and allies in Central Pennsylvania.

As a regionally representative Center, we will be starting this program with groups in York, Lancaster and Harrisburg. For specific details about meeting locations and times please see below. Please contact Sean Maloney, Interim Program Director, at smaloney@centralpalgbtcenter.org or (717) 920-9534 if you have interest in learning more about the book clubs starting this fall, including the location you would be interested in joining. Please also contact us if you would be interested in helping to start another club in a different city in the region. This will be a great way to meet new people and get exposed to some of the vast collection of worthwhile LGBT-themed books.
