Position Summary:

The Operations Manager is responsible for keeping the day-to-day operations of the Center running smoothly, proactively addressing issues, problem-solving and working effectively as part of a team. This person must be well-organized and detail-oriented, with strong written and verbal communication skills and decision-making ability. The Operations Manager must be professional and personable, representing the Center well both internally and externally. This person must understand and embrace the mission of the LGBT Center, and be willing to learn and grow. The Operations Manager reports to the Executive Director.


Accounting: Track all incoming revenue and outgoing expenses, assign accounting codes, make deposits at bank, monitor bank transactions, generate invoices, prepare materials for accountant every two weeks, and serve as liaison between accountant and the Center.

Development Support: Provide support for the Center’s development efforts, including entering all donations in donor database, preparing donor acknowledgement letters, managing recurring donations and managing donations through United Way, SECA, etc.

Grant Coordination: Centralize all documentation related to past and present Center grants, maintain schedule of when invoices, reports, and re-applications are due, and coordinate with staff to gather all necessary information to stay in compliance with grantors.

Office Management: Provide general office support, including handling mail, answering phones, greeting visitors and providing resources, managing internal and external calendars and ordering office supplies.

Facility Management: Manage the physical facility, including ensuring regular upkeep and maintenance, proactively addressing any facility concerns and coordinating compliance with the Center’s records retention and destruction policy.

Volunteer Coordination: Recruit and screen all volunteers, coordinate schedules and provide oversight and direction for volunteer tasks and projects.

Administrative Support: Provide administrative support as needed for the Center, including maintaining mailing lists, making basic website updates and preparing meeting agendas.

Event & Tabling Coordination: Manage logistics for Center events, including fundraising events, as well as serve as the point-of-contact for all tabling events for the Center.

Other duties as assigned.


Access to transportation as needed to complete job responsibilities.

Ability to work some evenings and occasional weekends.

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.

State Police Background Check, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Criminal Background Check.
